18TH IMPERIA WINTER REGATTA WILL BEGIN ON 2ND DECEMBER 2007: 300 TEAMS ARE EXPECTED FOR A WEEK EVENT
Imperia, 22 novembre 2007 - A fleet of about 300 teams (coming from at least 15 different countries)
is expected to take part in the 18th Imperia Winter Regatta scheduled from 2 to 9 December 2007.
The event organized by Yacht Club Imperia will be opened to Laser, 420, 470, L≠Equipe
and RS:X: "We are already working hard - said the Chairman of YCIM, Mr Riccardo Guatelli - in order to have
everything ready for the sailors that will be taking part to this event that, during the past years, increased
more and more the number of participants".
Since now, about a week before the first gunfire,
the Organizing Commitee has alsready registered entries from Austria,
Croatia, Finland, Germany, Greece, Lituania, Monaco, Sweden, Switzerland, Spain and UK,
while entries from Israel, Netherland, Poland, Souhtafrica and Turkey are expected to take part in the event.
In 2007 edition the race area will be the same as in the past but boats and sailors will be based in
the ancient harbour of Oneglia, in the easterly part of Imperia town as in Porto Maurizio the new marina is
under construction.
Lasers and RS:X wil race from 2 to 5 December while 470, 420 and L'Equipe classes will race fro 6 to 9 December.
The IWR is an ISAF Grade 3 event.
Main sponsor of IWR 2007 will be the famous brand Borsalino, the hat company that in 2007 will be 150 years old.
Now the company produces not only hats for man and women but also a man clothing collection.
Organization of IWR is possibile thanks to support of Regione Liguria- Assessorato allo Sport,
Comune of Imperia - Assessorato allo Sport e manifestazioni, Provincia of Imperia and the cooperation of
Imperia Coast Guard.
IWR has the support as well of Porto di Imperia Spa, ICS (Internet & Communication Solutions),
