18TH IMPERIA WINTER REGATTA: A SPECIAL PRIZE WILL BE AWARDED BY BORSALINO HAT COMPANY

The 18th Imperia Winter Regatta has been presented in the Imperia Municipality Room: the event got more and more participation success during the years achieving an increasing international appeal. Participant - about 300 teams - will rig their boats (Olympic Lasers, 470s, RS:X boards and 420s and L'Equipe) alongside the quay of the ancient harbour of Oneglia, the same place where the america actor Matt Damon walked while shooting the famous film The Bourne Identity.
Main sponsor of IWR is the famous company Borsalino: the company is 150 years old in 2007 and since its establishment manufacures all over the world famous hats that wears many people from the show biz (cinema, TV, fashion, etc) such as Johnny Depp, Bruce Willis, Naomi Campbell, Pete Doherty, Justin Timberlake, Ben Harper and many others. Now the company produces non only hats for man and women but also a man clothing collection. A special Borsalino prize will be awarded to the winners of 470 class both male and female.

18th IMPERIA WINTER REGATTA
WHO: Imperia Winter Regatta is organized by Yacht Club Imperia (http://ycim.it): YCIM established one year and half ago from through the merging between Circolo Velico Imperiese and Porto Maurizio Yacht Club. The Chairman is Riccardo Guatelli, Event Director is Luigi Rognoni.
WHAT: In 2007 Imperia Winter Regatta is 18 years old and it is open to Laser (Standard male, 4.7 female), 420 male and female, 470 male and female, L'Equipe and RS:X. It's an international event and the sailors taking part will come from Austria, Croatia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Lituania, Monaco, Russia, Spain, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland and UK, while entries from Israel, Netherland, Poland, Southafrica and Turkey are expected to take part in the event.
The IWR is an ISAF Grade 3 event.
WHERE: In 2007 edition boats and sailors will be based in the ancient harbour of Oneglia, in the easterly part of Imperia town while the race area will be the same as in the past, the area right in front of the town.
WHEN: Lasers and RS:X will race from 2 to 5 December while 470, 420 and L'Equipe classes will race froM 6 to 9 December.
HOW: Organization of IWR is possibile thanks to support of Regione Liguria-Assessorato allo Sport, Comune of Imperia - Assessorato allo Sport e manifestazioni, Provincia of Imperia and the cooperation of Imperia Coast Guard.
IWR has the support as well of Porto di Imperia Spa, ICS (Internet & Communication Solutions), Outreach Communication, Longiave Business Design, North Sails Italia, Gold Mediastore, UNO Communications and Agnesi.
