The Imperia Winter Regatta is an ISAF Grade 3 ranked event.

NOTICE OF RACE


1 - RULES
1.1 - The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing.
1.2 - No national authority prescriptions will apply.
1.3 - If there is a conflict between languages the English text will take precedence.

2 - ADVERTISING
Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organizing authority. If required, the Organising Authority will supply these items and they shall be affixed as prescribed in the Sailing Instructions. The Organising Authority reserves the right to refuse advertising by a boat or competitor when it is in conflict with the laws of the Italian government or Italian Sailing Federation.

3 - ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
3.1 - Each competitor shall be member of a Club affiliated to the National Sailing Authority, which shall be affiliated to ISAF.
3.2 - The event is open to following classes: 470 men and women, 420 open and ladies, Laser Standard men and Laser Radial women, Laser radial boys. Men (or Open) and women (or ladies) classes will have different classification and if the number of entries will be significant, they will sail in different fleets.
3.3 - The event is open to Laser Radial sailors boys born in 1990 or later and to mix crews in the 470 class that will be included in 470 men classification.
3.4 - L'EQUIPE and 29er Classes will sail the event under the format INTERNATIONAL MEETING. Racing will be officiated entirely by FIV coaches and technical personnel.
3.5 - Eligible boats may enter by completing the form available online at www.i-w-r.com by the 20th of November. Entries shall be confirmed by the end of the respective registration days with the payment of the registration fee 3.6 - Late entries will be accepted with a registration fee of  150,00.

4 - FEES
Required fees are as follows:
4.1 - 470 M&W, Laser M&W, Laser Boy, 420 O&L: Euro 80,00
4.2 - L'Equipe and 29er: Euro 50,00

5 - QUALIFYING SERIES AND FINAL SERIES
The organizing authority reserves the right to divide the fleet and run qualifying and final series, according to the number of entries. Details will be given on the Sailing Instructions.

6 - SCHEDULE
6.1 - Registration:
--- December 3rd, from 10.00 am to 7.00 pm: registration day for 420
--- December 4th , from 10.00 am to 7.00 pm: registration day for 470, Laser, L'Equipe and 29er classes
6.2 - Welcome Ceremony:
--- December 4th at 6.00 pm
6.3 - Briefing on Sailing Instructions:
--- December 3rd 6.00 pm for 420
--- December 4th 5.30 pm for 470, Laser, L'Equipe and 29er classes
6.4 - Dates of racing:
--- 420 O&L: 4th, 5th 6th December
--- L'Equipe, 29er: 5th, 6th, 7th December
--- 470 M&W, Laser M&W, Laser Boy: 5th, 6th 7th 8th December
6.5 - Number of races:
--- 470 M&W: 10 races with a maximum of 4 per day
--- Laser M&W and Boy: 10 races with a maximum of 3 per day
--- 420 O&L, L'Equipe, 29er: 9 races with a maximum of 4 per day

6.6 - The scheduled time of the warning signal for the first race on the first day of racing is 10.00 am
6.7 - The scheduled time of the warning signal on the following days will be announced in the Sailing Instructions.

7 - MEASUREMENTS
Each boat shall produce a valid measurement certificate.

8 - SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
The sailing instructions will be available after 10.00 am of relevant registration days

9 - VENUE
The IMPERIA WINTER REGATTA 2009 will be held in the Port of Oneglia, in the Town of Imperia, in the North West of Italy. Races will be sailed in the waters in front of the town. A map of the zone is available on line at www.i-w-r.com

10 - THE COURSES
The courses will be announced in the Sailing Instructions.

11 - PENALTY SYSTEM
11.1 For the 29er class rule 44.1 is changed so that the Two-Turns Penalty is replaced by the One-Turn Penalty.
11.2 Decisions of the jury will be final as provided in rule 70.5.

12 - SCORING
12.1 One race is required to be completed to constitute a series.
12.2 (a) When fewer than five races have been completed, a boat's series score will be the total of her race scores.
---- (b) When from five to eight races have been completed, a boat's series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.
---- (c) When nine or more races have been completed, a boat's series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her two worst scores.

13 - SUPPORT BOATS
Support boats shall be marked with a flag or sticker supplied by organisation. Support boats shall register at the registration desk before the start of first race.

14 - BERTHING
Boats shall be kept in their assigned area in the boat park.

15 - PRIZES
Prizes will be presented to the first, second and third boat of each class. Other special prize will be announced during the event.

16 - DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
All the teams taking part in the event do so at their own risk and responsibility. The Organising Committee or any party involved with the organisation of the event disclaims any and every responsibility whatsoever for loss, damage, injury or inconvenience that might occur to persons and goods, both ashore and at sea as a consequence of participation in the races covered by this notice of race. See rule 4, Decision to Race.

17 - RIGHTS TO USE NAME AND LIKENESS In participating in an event, a competitor automatically grants to the Organising Authority and the sponsors of the event, the right in perpetuity, to make, use and show, from time to time and at their discretion, any motion pictures, still pictures and live, taped or film television and other reproductions of him/her during the period of the competition for the said event in which the competitor participates and in all material related to the said event without compensation.

18 - INSURANCE All boats competing in this event shall have third party insurance cover not less than  1,000,000 for any accident. Each competitor shall produce on registration evidence of such insurance and any competitor not holding this cover shall withdraw their entry.

Imperia is situated in the west coast of the Ligurian sea, in the North West of ITALY.
Imperia is 100 km away from GENOVA and 40 km from the French border (60 km from NICE). The closest airport is NICE.

The Port of Oneglia is in the east part of the town.

20 - CEREMONIES AND SOCIAL EVENTS
Crews are invited to attend the Welcome Ceremony, Prize Giving Ceremony and other official functions scheduled in the NoR or SI.
The welcome ceremony will be on the 4th of December at 6.00 pm.
Prizegiving will be as soon as possible after the races of the last day of the relevant classes.

Social events will be offered during the event according the schedule will be anounced in the Sailing Instructions or on the Official Notice Board.
