"A new opportunity for Imperia as center of sailing for young sailors"

More than 200 are boats expected at 2005 IWR, coming from different Countries. Imperia Winter Regatta is a four days event, hosted by Porto Maurizio Yacht Club and Lega Navale Italiana in the town of Imperia , in North West Italy. The event has the contribution of the local governments and the cooperation of Imperia Mare (tourist harbour of Imperia ), the Coast Guard and the Circolo Velico Imperiese.

Now at 16 th edition, IWR is an official ISAF international event since 2002, and starting this year, has been also classified as Grade 3 ranked event for 470 international class; being one of the most popular winter regattas in Europe, it is not only a high-level sportive event, but also an opportunity for young sailors to confront their experience and their culture.

The event will start on 8th December, with the registration day and the Opening ceremony on late afternoon. Ten races are scheduled during the following three day, in the warm waters of Imperia with our usual beautiful sunshine and soaring mid-winter temperatures! The Organisation Committee is working to give to sailors more equipped spaces and services, in order to satisfy their expectations.

Growing year by year, last year the event was a massive success, with 165 boats across the three classes: with seven nations represented, the biggest fleet was the 107-boat 420 fleet, but very interesting was also the 32-boats 470 fleet, with 5 nations represented, not so usual to meet during winter races.
