SAILING: IMPERIA WINTER REGATTA 470, 420, L'EQUIPE 3rd AND FINAL DAYImperia, 10th December 2006 - "A perfect day for sailing!" - the Jury chairman, German Wolfgang Stenz, said at the end of the last day of Imperia Winter Regatta 2006.
After the bad weather today was a bright sunshine day and an Easterly wind started to blow early in the morning up to 19/20 knots allowing to complete the program: at the end of the day some more four races had been sailed.
All the best internationally ranked teams could keep the leadership of the results: in 470 class, male division, Italian Zandonà/Trani was the winner of three races winning the overall results ahead of two other Italian teams, Dubbini brothers,second and Bertone/ Malagugini, third.
In 470 female division the winner was again an Italian team, Conti/ Micol three times as well first across the finishing line: se won as well the overall results ahead of a fleet of 54 boats. They has been
followed by two Finnish crews, Saarikallio/Lehtonen, second, and
Saari/Wulff, third.
In 420 class, male division, the Italian Champion crew Mancinelli Scotti/De Felice won the the results after the 6 races sailed finishing ahead of German Hasselmann/Rojek, second, and French Cnuddle/Kerhascoet, third.
Dutch girls Krejzer/van Veen finished in the first position in 420 female division followed by German Lutz/Frisch, second and Italian Ziglioli/Privileggio, third.
The 2006 Imperia Winter Regatta has been perfectly directed by the International Jury with German Wolfgang Stenz, chairman, Nino Shmueli from Israel, Erich Michel from Austria , French Founettte Pauthier and Italian Giorgio Fornaciari.
Today the young sailors of L'Equipe as well could sail only one race that had been won by Italian team Telese/Ferraro.
The IWR event has the contribution of the Sport, Tourism and Events Council of the town, the patronage of the local governments and the cooperation of the Coast Guard, Imperia Mare (tourist harbour of Imperia), and LNI Imperia.
