IMPERIA WINTER REGATTA PRESENTED TO THE PRESSImperia, 28th November 2006 - The 17th edition of Imperia Winter Regatta has been presented yesterday in Imperia Town Hall at the presence of Sport, Tourism and Events Councillor Mr. Marco Scajola.
The Chairman of Yacht Club Imperia (formerly the two different yacht clubs Circolo Velico Imperiese and Porto Maurizio Yacht Club merged this year) Mr. Riccardo Guatelli and Mr. Luigi Rognoni, event director, explained all the latest news and program about the event. By now YC Imperia has already received more than 250 entries from sailors representing 15 different countries (Austria, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Monaco, Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, Switzerland)
"It is a very important event for our town Imperia - said Mr. Scajola - regarding sport and tourism. We have a great capability due to sea activities and we can organize events all the year long. This is a strategical event not only for its feature but also regarding the dates in which it runs".
Imperia Winter Regatta will start on 3rd December and come to an end on 10th December: Olympic Classes Laser, 470 and windsurf RS:X and Laser Radial, 420 and L≠Equipe will sail the event.
The Chairman of the International Jury will be Sergio Gaibisso from Alassio, President as well of The Italian Sailing Federation; the Race Officier will be Fulvio Parodi, technical director of Yacht Club Imperia.
Motoplanet, area store of DUCATI, the company established in 1926 and producing sport motorbikes featuring powerful "desmodromics" engines, innovative design and vanguard technology will be present at IWR with brand new model 1098 from 8th to 10th December exhibit on the area where the boats will be parked ashore, on the harbour.
The IWR event has the contribution of the Sport, Tourism and Events Council of the town, the patronage of the local governments and the cooperation of the Coast Guard, Imperia Mare (tourist harbour of Imperia), and LNI Imperia.
Technical sponsors of the event are Outreach Communication, Business Design, ICS (Internet Communication Solutions), Ingemar, North Sails Italia.
