IMPERIA WINTER REGATTA TOMORROW THE EVENT FOR 470, 420 AND L'EQUIPEImperia, 7th December 2006 - More than 250 teams of 470, 420 and L≠Equipe representing eleven different countries (Austria, Estonia, Finland, France, Hungary, Germany, Netherlands, Poland, Italy, Monaco, Switzerland) will be at sea from tomorrow to Sunday 10th December for the second part of Imperia Winter Regatta 2006.
Olympic class 470 (male and female) 420 class (male and female) willl race not more than nine races on two different sail area, while L≠equipe crews will race 6 racese during the weekend.
On the starting line many international level teams will be present: in the 470 male class Italian Gabrio Zandonà/Andrea Trani that is first in the ISAF World Ranking (Italian Navy/joe Fly Team); Italian Fabio Zeni/Nicola Pirenti from Garda Lake that is the leader of Italian Ranking and 2006 Italian Champion team, Giulio Desiderato/Alessandro Saettone (YCI Genova). Among female teams Giulia Conti/Giovanna Micol from Trieste, a team especially good in match racing and Maria Stella Turizio e Maria Carolina Rendano from Naples, very good sailor in 420 class before upgrading to 470.
The fight will be tough as well in the 420 class where there will be a many teams already qualified for nex New Zealand World Championship: 2006 Italian Champions Edoardo Mancinelli Scotti/Lorenzo De Felice, campioni italiani, 2006 Under 15 champions Simon Sivitz Costa/Jas Farneti, Franch mixed team Marie Lumeau e Vincent Guillarm, all reacing in the male division. Among the girls the Italian team Giulia Zappacosta e Sara Zribi, who whre 6th in ISAF Youth Championship.
Tomorrow morning the 470 start is scheduled at 10.15 hrs, 420 start at 10.45 hrs.
Tomorrow afternoon after the races Chairman of Yacht Club Imperia Mr. Riccardo Guatelli will welcome sailors in the marquee in Porto Maurizio Harbour.
Motoplanet, area store of DUCATI, the company established in 1926 and producing sport motorbikes featuring powerful ≥desmodromics≈ engines, innovative design and vanguard technology will be present at IWR with brand new model 1098 from 8th to 10th December exhibit on the area where the boats will be parked ashore, on the harbour.
The IWR event has the contribution of the Sport, Tourism and Events Council of the town, the patronage of the local governments and the cooperation of the Coast Guard, Imperia Mare (tourist harbour of Imperia), and LNI Imperia.
