18th IMPERIA WINTER REGATTA - DAY TWO for Lasers and RS:XImperia, 4 December 2007
Another sunny and mild day in the ancient
harbour of Oneglia for the sailors - RS:S and Laser - taking part to
Imperia Winter Regatta.
Early in the morning a ligh northern wind was blowing over the area
so the Race Committeee decided to postopone the start by hoisting the
AP for a couple of hours. Then the start was fired aoud midday with a
en easterly wind up to 10/11 knots.
Once again in the RS:X class the Lituanian Juczas Bernotas has been
the first one to cross the finishing line in both races followed by
Austrian Kfir Duldner on the second place while on the third place
finished alternately Swedish Johan Ekstedt and Italian Michele Cicerone.
In the Laser class only one race could be sailed as the second one
had to be abandoned due to the wind dropping.
The third race of the series had been won by French Emmanuel Taine ho
crossed the finishing line in front of Swiss Max Bulley and Emmanuel
Sanchez from Monaco.
The leader of the fleet in the ovearall results is still Italian
Giacomo Bottoli.
Tomorrow the event will come to an end with some more races scheduled
starting from 10.30am.
Main sponsor of IWR is the famous hat company Borsalino: a special
Borsalino prize will be awarded to the winners of 470 class both male
and female.
The IWR is an ISAF Grade 3 event.

Imperia Winter Regatta is organized by Yacht Club Imperia
