NOTICE OF RACE



The Imperia Winter Regatta is an ISAF Grade 3 ranked event.

1 - ORGANISING COMMITTEE
Yacht Club Imperia

2 - RULES IN APPLICATION
The regatta will be governed by the "rules" as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing 2005-2008 and:
- The actual International Class Rules of the participating Classes
- This Notice of Race
- The RS:X Class Championship Rules will apply except that there will be no medal race
- The Sailing Instructions to this event
- Italian National prescription will not apply

3 - LANGUAGE DURING THE EVENT
The official language is ENGLISH, and in case of interpretations about a translated text, the ENGLISH version shall prevail.

4 - THE VENUE
The IMPERIA WINTER REGATTA 2007 will be held in the Port of Oneglia, in the Town of Imperia, in the North West of Italy.

5 - ADVERTISING
ISAF Regulations 2006, 20.3.1. (b) (Category C) will apply.
Competitors may be required to display Event sponsor's name(s)/logo(s) and bow numbers.
RS: X sailors may be required to wear a competitor's bib. If required, the Organising Authority will supply these items and they shall be affixed as prescribed in the Sailing Instructions. The Organising Authority reserves the right to refuse advertising by a boat or competitor when it is in conflict with the laws of the Italian government or Italian Sailing Federation.

6 - ELEGIBILITY
Each competitors shall be member of a Club affiliated to the National Sailing Authority, which shall be affiliated to ISAF.

7 - REGISTRATION
Entry forms should be placed filling the form on the event website www.i-w-r.com or sent to Race Secretary sail@i-w-r.com within 26th November, and shall be confirmed with registration fee of € 50.00 within the end of respective registration days. (please don't send any cheque by mail)
Late entries could be accepted with a registration fee of € 80,00.

8 - SAILING INSTRUCTION
Sailing instruction will be available after 9.00 am of respective registration days at Regatta Office.

9 - INTERNATIONAL JURY
According to RRS 70.4, if the International Jury is constitute in compliance with RRS appendix N, any decision will be final.

10 - CLASSES
The event is open to following classes: 470 male and female, 420 open and female, Laser Standard male and Laser Radial Olympic female, RS:X male and female.
Male (or open) and female will have different classement and if the number of entries will be significant, they will sail in different fleet. This will apply also to 420 class.
The event is open also to Laser Radial for sailors born in 1989 and following years and Laser 4.7 for sailors born in 1990 and following years.

11 - L'EQUIPE
L'EQUIPE Class will sail the event under the format INTERNATIONAL MEETING, and races and judgement will be managed entirely by FIV trainer and technical.

12 - PROGRAMME
2nd December: registration and practice day for RS:X and LASER Classes
3rd - 5th December: races for RS:X and Laser Classes
3rd December: SI Briefing 9.00 am
First warning signal on 3rd Dec will be at 10.15 am

6th December: registration and practice day for 470, 420 and L'Equipe Classes
7th - 9th December: races 470, 420 and L'Equipe classes
7th December: SI Briefing 9.00 am
First warning signal on 7th Dec will be at 10.15 am

13 - RACES
A maximum of nine races will be sailed in the waters of Imperia, Italy.
Maximum races in a day:
RS:X Class: according to Championship Rules
Laser Classes: three races
420, 470, L'Equipe Classes: four races

In case of very many entries in a class, Organising Committee could decide to divide them in smaller fleets according to rules will be reported on SI.
Numbers of participants from which a dividing in smaller fleet will be done:
RS:X Class: according to Championship Rules
Laser Classes: 110 participants
420, 470, L'Equipe Classes: 100 participants - between 80 and 99 entries the Organizing Committee will make the decision on the format

14 - SCORING
Will be applied the low point scoring sistem (rule Appendix A). If four or less valid races will be sailed, all races will be scored. If five or more valid races will be sailed, all races except the worst (which will be discarded) will be scored

15 - INSURANCE
All boats competing in this event shall have third party insurance cover not less than € 1,000,000 for any accident. Each competitor shall produce on registration evidence of such insurance and any competitor not holding this cover shall withdraw their entry.

16 - PRIZES
Prizes to the first, second and third of each class. Other special prize will be announced during the event.

17 - OFFICIAL CEREMONY
Crews shall attend the Welcome Ceremony, Prize Giving Ceremony and other official functions scheduled in the NoR or SI.

18 - DISCLAIMER
All the teams taking part in the event do so at their own risk and responsibility. The Organising Committee or any party involved with the organisation of the event disclaims any and every responsibility whatsoever for loss, damage, injury or inconvenience that might occur to persons and goods, both ashore and at sea as a consequence of participation in the races covered by this notice of race.
Attention is drawn to ISAF Fundamental Rule 4 which states : "The responsibility for a boat's decision to participate in a race or to continue racing is hers alone".

19 - RIGHTS TO USE NAME AND LIKENESS
In participating in an event, a competitor automatically grants to the Organising Authority and the sponsors of the event, the right in perpetuity, to make, use and show, from time to time and at their discretion, any motion pictures, still pictures and live, taped or film television and other reproductions of him/her during the period of the competition for the said event in which the competitor participates and in all material related to the said event without compensation.

Imperia is situated in the west coast of Ligurian sea, in the North West of ITALY. Imperia is 100 km away from GENOVA and 40 km from French frontier (60 km from NICE). The nearest airport is NICE.
The Port of Oneglia is in the east part of the town.

CEREMONY AND SOCIAL EVENT
Welcome ceremony for Laser and RS:X Classes will be on 3rd December after the races of the day, according the time fixed on SI.
Prizegiving for Laser and RS:X classes will be on 5th December as soon as possible after the races of the day.
Welcome ceremony for 470, 420 and L'Equipe Classes will be on 7th December after the races of the day, according the time fixed on SI.
Prizegiving for 470, 420 and L'Equipe classes will be on 9th December as soon as possible after the races of the day.
Social events will be offered during the event according the schedule will be reported with SI.
